In 2017, her journey met an obstacle, breast cancer. After undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and becoming a breast cancer survivor, Courtney was motivated to chart a new path and formalize this company to support businesses and individuals trying to improve on their own Path2Wine.
Courtney improves the business functions of wineries and wine companies. She works with individuals needs specialized training in wine, business or making career transitions. She is President of the Women’s Wine Alliance, a nonprofit organization that advances the education of women wine professionals. She is working on a book on the Wines of San Diego County.
Courtney's Path2Wine began after a decade in the nonprofit sector, when she left to attend the wine immersion program at the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena. Following that program, she went from Napa to Mendoza, Argentina. When she returned to California, she began Our World, Our Community, Inc a wine import company. While working in the wine industry, she saw a need for wine education, joined the Women's Wine Alliance and earned the highest level of certification (Diploma) from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust based in London. You can watch her graduation video.
She has presented at SommCon, Center for Creative Leadership, Culinary Arts School in Tijuana, International Wine Tourism and USA Wine Tourism conferences. She has been featured on Diversity in Wine and Spirits.
